1. Follow your artist’s instructions for the covering. The time to leave it on depends on the dressing used. Wash your hands before removing it.

2. Wash gently. Clean the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Do not scrub. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel.

3. Keep it lightly moisturized. Apply the product your artist recommends as directed. Wear loose clothing that will not rub against the tattoo.

4. Let it heal. Some tenderness, itching, and flaking can occur. Do not scratch, pick at scabs, or pull away peeling skin.

5. Protect the area. Avoid direct sun, swimming, hot tubs, and soaking the tattoo until it has healed.
